HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Reese (R-Westmoreland/Somerset) today announced a $136,786 flood mitigation grant has been awarded to Mount Pleasant Township.
“This is an important investment in protecting public health and safety in the township,” Reese said. “I was pleased to work with local officials, specifically supervisors Frank Puskar, Jack Rutkowski and Duane Hutter, to secure this funding.”
The township will use the grant to replace the North Diamond Street culvert, portions of which have collapsed, creating flooding and damage to multiple property owners in the area. Specifically, the township will remove the existing culvert, which is a combination of concrete and stone walls with various roof covers, and replace it with a corrugated steel pipe arch.
This funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Tuesday through its Flood Mitigation Grant Program
