House Approves Topper, Reese Bills Protecting Families’, School Districts’ Education Decisions

Reese, Warner Introduce Legislation to Permit Small Games of Chance to Conduct Games Online During COVID-19

HARRISBURG – Reps. Mike Reese (R-Westmoreland/Somerset) and Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) announced today that they have introduced legislation to permit Small Games of Chance (SGOC) licensees to conduct games online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Events to raffle popular items such as golf equipment and other items have become important community fundraisers throughout Pennsylvania. COVID-19 restrictions have greatly inhibited the fire departments, veterans associations and other nonprofit organizations that rely on revenue from these events.

Bedford, Somerset Counties to Receive Over $101,000 from Marcellus Shale Impact Fees, Say Metzgar, Dowling and Reese

HARRISBURG – Reps. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford), Mike Reese (R-Westmoreland/Somerset) and Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) today announced that municipalities in Somerset and Bedford counties will receive $101,621 from the 2019 reporting year for the Act 13 unconventional natural gas impact fees, otherwise known as Pennsylvania’s unconventional natural gas drilling tax. These fees are taken from revenue from natural gas drilling activities in the Marcellus Shale. Distribution of revenue is expected to take place in early July.

Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine say, expanded testing is the most crucial step in saving lives and helping Pennsylvania get back to normal. However, House Democrats disagreed, blocking the two-thirds vote required to pass an emergency bill to expand testing to Pennsylvanians on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday.

Reese Joins Colleagues in Passing Legislation to Save Family-Sustaining Jobs

HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Reese (R-Westmoreland/Somerset) today joined his colleagues in the state House in voting for legislation that would require the governor to develop and implement a plan to mitigate COVID-19 for businesses and allow those businesses that can meet the requirements of that plan to reopen.
