Reese to Host Internet Safety Seminar at Mt. Pleasant Sept. 29

With the rise in reports of children being targeted by Internet predators all over the nation, Rep. Mike Reese (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) announced he will host an Internet Safety Seminar from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Mt. Pleasant High School auditorium at 271 State St. in Mt. Pleasant. The presenter will be Senior Supervisory Special Agent Rick Shaheen of the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office.

“The protection and safety of our children who use the internet is a paramount concern for parents and guardians, and that is the purpose of holding this seminar at Mt. Pleasant High School,” said Reese. “It is very easy for online predators to get at our kids with the many social-networking sites available. This safety information is very important and I am hopeful we will have a great attendance.”

The seminar is presented as a part of an overall child protection effort titled “Operation Safe Surf” operated by Attorney General Tom Corbett.  The evening session is intended for adults only, and includes hints on how to protect children while they use the internet.
